Filmnut #322
Actor Seymour Cassel
Aired Live: 05-20-2009
Actor and national SAG board member Seymour Cassel came on the show to talk about the proposed agreement that SAG members will be voting on. Cassel is very much against the agreement and wants actors to vote no. We covered the ramifications for new media, residuals, the working actor, the letter celebrities like George Clooney, Matt Damon, and Alec Baldwin signed and much more. I did challenge some of the membership first points of view and agreed with others.
We also had good instant message questions from viewers about SAG president Alan Rosenberg. We are trying to get Adam Arkin on the show to represent the other point of view.
As the deal the writers signed is often brought up I showed a clip of my interview with WGAw president PATRIC VERRONE and quoted his opinion on whether SAG should accept the same terms as everybody else. For those who want to see that interview in it's entirety it is episode 228 in the filmnut archive. (Most of this interview is about net neutrality, a very important issue)
For more information about the proposed agreement you can go to http://www.sag.org. There you can read a summary of the agreement and for and against statements... Two other good websites are http://www.sagwatch.net. This site seems to be pro the agreement. And http://www.sagwatchdog.com which advises against the agreement.
