User Submitted Question:
Michał L writes: My question is connected with the subjectiveness of movies and your comments about why Emmanuel Lubezki hasn’t won an Academy Award. John defended the Academy’s choice by saying that they were right each and every year, which is fair enough, but since we know that all film is subjective and that the Oscars aren’t the objective measurement of artistic value, do you think they are even remotely important? I see over 100 new releases every year, including all the nominees, and yet I rarely agree with the Academy’s choices. For example, last year’s Argo, though a good movie, wasn’t even in my top 10. So what do you think and what are some of the Best Picture winners that you disagree with?
